Other : First Youth Olympic Games have mascots

With 266 days to start and Youth Olympics in Singapore the world were represented by official mascots of the competition - Lio and Merlot.

 

Lio (Lyo) - lion cub that loves sports and provides young people share their enthusiasm and get involved in healthy lifestyles. It symbolizes the endless energy of youth, it will take as much out of life and desire for victory. Full name Lio - Lion Youth Olympics (Lyo - «Lion of the Youth Olympic»). Merlot (Merly) got its name from the word «mer» (sea) and the letter «l» from «liveliness» (liveliness) and «y» of «youthfulness» (youth). This fantastic creature Singapore mythology - merlion, with the lion head and body of fish. Merlot - fiercely defenders of the environment, which encourages young people to social activism and unity for a common future. As talismans Youth Games-2010 Lio and Merlot now participate in all the events that take place in preparation for the Olympics in Singapore, familiarizing youths around the world with such values of the Olympic movement, friendship and mutual respect and fair play.
